This book is beautiful -- it has incredibly clear photographs and other illustrations. The down side is it has way too much detail. I am a first year dental student, and I find this book pretty much impossible to read. It's probably somewhat readable for more advanced students/professionals, but it's definitely not for my level.
I highly recommend purchasing this book. It's easy to read and it does a good job in explaining dental information.
Great book, lots of images .
This is a great textbook in that it covers a lot of ground and is therefore a good introduction to various areas relevant to dentistry. However I bought it mainly for the histology and embryology, and my opinion having now started reading Ten Cate's Oral Histology is that this book inferior in this respect. Embryology/histology sections seem both too detailed (eg. listing a variety signalling molecules and matrix components without necessarily explaining their role) and too weak in painting an overall picture of what is happening. This makes for a slow read where I constantly have sort what is important to know and what's putative conjecture -- I personally had a better experience reading Ten Cate's book (which is also very detailed but perhaps better written).
I bought this book for first year dental. This book has the best pictures and dissections. It is very detailed yet easy to read. I highly recommend it.
