Okay, if you want a book that will teach your kid time instead of tip toeing around it. Get the book “Telling Time with Big Mama Catâ€. That teaches them the language (jargon) of time and numbers. This is for 1 year olds who don’t know numbers yet, which is too young to be teaching time. As a teacher it’s super frustrating to see Daniel tiger say “ put the hands on the dinner plate that means dinner time. Really? So both hands or the hour hand? No mention of numbers or what the hands of the clock mean. If you teach your kids time teach them using the jargon effectively. Have them put the big hand on the 12 and the small on the 6 and tell them that clock says 6 o clock. They absorb it correctly. This is teaching confusion and bad habits. So disappointing!!
Wanted to use favorite characters to introduce concept of time to our toddler.This book is cute and has a little clock he can play with to change the time as it corresponds with the story. Runs through some easily identifiable daily routine stuff that toddler/preschool age can relate to.Bought this to go with a Melissa and Doug Mickey Mouse wooden clock/shape puzzle and it keeps our little guy's interest.Side note: Also got him an alarm clock that lights up when it is "wake up time" so that eventually when he's older and waking up early on weekends he will know that he can play quietly and look at books until it is time for all of us to wake up.
My husband helps read this book to my son at night. We're trying to teach my 4 year old the time and he's starting to get bits and pieces. He thinks the 8 is 8 and not 40 mins… So we have a little bit to go. Daniel Tiger are my go to books if you have looked around my reviews you'll notice I tend to buy them over a lot of books. Like I've stated before the morals Daniel Tiger teaches is why I keep going back to them. Fred Rogers legacy is also a reason since I grew up watching him as a kid.
A great book which my child loves to read repeatedly. The only complaint is the hand of the clock broke within a couple days so the clock no longer worked shortly after we got it.
Fun book for my son who loves Daniel Tiger and is learning to tell time. Only problem is that the red clock hands have become loose so they don't stay on a number when you put them there. My son still likes it though.
It's a good book. The only thing is both hands go to the spot indicated. I thought it'd be telling time and putting the hands in real time. But it works for my son to read and interact with.
Bought this as a gift along with a watch and another clock toy. This book was the perfect compliment to those items. It's a board book so I liked that it's going to last a bit longer than a paperback book.
This is a cute book and a great teaching tool. My four year old grandson loves this book! I read the story and he sets the clock’s time.
