The ASL dictionary is a wonderful resource for people learning ASL. I am a fourth year student and a 2nd year interpreter for my local church, and I use this dictionary as a refresher, just reading through it. I definitely recommend it, even though it does contain some English, outdated, and local signs. The best way to learn is contact with YOUR local deaf community.I also recommend "American Sign Language The Easy Way" by David Stewartand "American Sign Language Dictionary Unabridged" by Martin L. Sternberg
This book is the Bible of signing. The best edition. When new was worth a lot more money. I was fortunate to get this edition for my class.

This is one of the best sign language dictionaries that I have ever seen. If the word you want to sign is not clear to you in the picture they show you, the instructions on signing the word you want makes it very clear. Also, when there is more than one way to sign a word, the definitions make it clear on which one you are to use.
I teach a weekly workshop for American Sign Language, and the Random House Webster's Dictionary is most informative and complete. Several of my students have also bought this book and bring it into class diligently for easy reference. It's gotta be good as this volume isa heavy one and worth every penny.
Good dictionary, some of the signs are old so an updated dictionary is needed for staying up on latest changes in ASL.
