The author has taken a chronological/event-based approach to narrating the events of World War I. This book is divided into four main sections. The introduction discusses the groundwork leading to the outbreak of work going back to the end of the Franco-Prussian War and the enmity between France and Germany. It continues to the Battle of Mons. The next section picks up with the Russians suffering defeat at Tannenberg and ends with the British initiating military conscription. Section Three shows the tide of war changing as the Allies become actively engaged in Caporetto and ends with the Turkish losing at Megiddo. The last section covers events from the Central Powers collapse and surrender to the signing of The Treaty of Versailles. Unfortunately, the severe terms of the peace treaty lay the groundwork for simmering tensions, the rise of dictators, and the conflicts leading up to World War II.Each event is discussed in a few pages. Weber singles out the most important issues, including photos of battle scenes and portraits of the important players. The text is set in large font, although the illustrations are rather small. While the information is not extensive on any one particular topic, the author manages to create a rather detailed, easy to read reference study. I would recommend the book to history buffs, middle and high school students and home school parents who wish to learn about the topic.

This is really a short of book that should be introduced in educational institutions. World War one was probably the most devastating war because it was the first one that had so many casualties and nobody had the technology and medical advancements that we have today that saves the lives of countless. Soldier stories are special because they're stories told about real people who took huge risks and leaps of faith just to protect us and they survived long enough to tell the tale or were famous enough to have someone else do it for them. The book is a great and interesting read.If you want to know the basics of the war and some of the day who fought in it, his books is an ideal one to read. I would certainly recommend this to anyone wanting to learn more about world war one. Interesting Book!!!!

PERFECT FOR YOUR HISTORY QUIZ! Thank you James Weber for helping me achieve an almost perfect score in World History!I got sick last week. I didn't know anyone that well from my class to ask for notes all the Professor told me was it was about World War I. I began to panic and remembered my high school History book had a well explained background on the matter. I called up my mother told her about it and she told me she gave the book away. Terrible thing, I decided to resort in Amazon and found the perfect book for it! This book also work if you're just planning to have a good read. It's not boring and I can guarantee that a hundred percent. I actually had a fun time reading and reviewing for my quiz through this kindle book.

This is an extremely detailed and scholarly treatment of the terrible "war to end all wars". It is not always easy to read because of the wealth of specific information about the geographical locations for the battles, the names of all the different battalions and regiments and their commanders, while giving very little sense of what it must have been like to be there then. But there is no doubt that the author is in total command of the narrative, from start to finish. It is an excellent resource for anyone who wants to learn about the strategies and intricacies of the many battles of World War I. Beautifully illustrated work that provides the reader a walk through the WW1 in all theaters. The Maps and color full pages bring to life the horror and tragedy of the war. I found myself buried in each page for hours. This book is a great addition to your WW1 collection.

My son is in 9 grade and has been studying about World war 1 the whole second trimester so I wanted to refresh my knowledge and maybe learn something more on the subject. The book delivers and what is even better- one can read it without getting bored with lots of facts and figures. I can now make sense of what and why happened and the influence this war had on the things are in Europe today. Like the other books in this series, this one does a remarkable job of compressing a massive amount of information into a concise read without turning it all into a boring litany of tedious facts.

I wanted to brush up on my World War I history and though I love history, I don't like to read books about it. This book is great in that respect. It is World War I in 50 dates. The author gives a brief introduction into the beginning of World War I and then moves into the 50 dates. Each date has an excellent description along with a picture of the person or the time that is being discussed, including newspaper articles as well. These dates are concise and easy to read as well. I had no problem explaining these events to my kids as we discussed World War I. It is a lot easier for me to read something like this than a long drawn out book.

Great compilation of the 50 most important events that happened that led to, during and after the world war 1. I have heard stories about this timeline from my Grandma and it wasn't lovely. I've realized how much suffering these people had during this times. I was young when I heard these stories, and now I got curious and bought this. This book will somehow make you understand what's the cause of the war, it'll take you back to those scenes and gave you details and important information you need. I recommend this book to students who wants a summary of the events for their studies.

This book is deeply interesting to read and I really enjoyed reading this book, I know all of us knows the World War 1 because we have the subject in schools about our history. This book gives me more knowledge about World War 1 and its 50 events. I highly recommend this book to all students out there I believe this book can help you to your quiz or exam about our history in World War 1.
