Great book but cheap printing. I don't know why Yen On is slacking on the printing of the cover. Every other book series has a nice shinny gloss finish. However this series is a matt finished. It's like they just skipped the gloss phase in printing to save money yet this book is more expensive than others. It pics up dirt and finger prints to easily. The story is very fun to read. This is a spin off from the main series. It focuses on Aiz and the Loki familia. It follows along the same time frame of the main series. So everything that was going on with Bell, this will be told from Aiz's point of view. Great read but the printing quality is very lacking.

HOT fireeeeee!!!I really enjoyed how Lilli and Bell start to get along. The dungeon is also pretty cool ... yay!

Bell has been doing well in the Dungeon, so well that he has been approved to go to the 7th floor. Whats a new adventurer on a hot streak do, go on a shopping trip with his Guild advisor for new gear (and a surprise from his goddess). But he realizes he could use some help when a young girl named Lilly asks to be his supporter. Is this girl a life-saver, or does she have a dark secret that could spell the end of our hero? And what is the dark secret of her Familia and why do they act the way they do?I love this series and have also been watching the anime as well. Bell shows he is more mature and insightful than his years let on. Lilly is also a great character, one with a dark past and doing what she needs to survive but she also has a side that wants to get out. Also Freya is keeping her eyes on Bell as well, helping him gain new abilities while plotting to steal him from Hestia. Also you will see a side of Aiz (who I am cheering for) that you would not expect and the results are the usual hilarity. I can not wait for the next installment (though the anime will already go over it I still will read it). to read what will happen next to our intrepid hero and his goddess.

Reading the second book, I have realized how much more fleshed out they make the story versus the anime. I highly recommend the series if you enjoyed the show. On a side note, I wish there was a game that let you take on the role of a Supporter. I thought this when watching the show and have a renewed interest after reading the book.

I was first introduced to this series through the Anime on Crunchyroll, and then found the light novels as well as the Manga. I anxiously awaiting the release of the next chapter/episode for this series. It is another great story! I wish the Light novels and Manga would be released a little faster here in the U.S., but I will patiently wait for the next releases in August.

This second volume doesn't reveal anything new about Bell or his Goddess Hestia. Instead it uses their activities to reveal more on the world around them, and introducing a new character named Lily. And I really like the world building aspects which help me to visualize what I am reading.

The hero continues to increase his support base (female admirers) but more importantly his character is really put out in the open and tested while a new, major player not only makes her appearance but is fully integrated into our hero's party.

*Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon?* has an interesting premise and is unique in that the character is said to start out with his quest in-story for the purposes of creating a harem, for about a few pages of length. Then he falls head over heels in love with a female warrior who saves his life. From then on, he is devoted to only impressing this girl. All childish dreams fly out the window. The world is essentially one where the divine beings, the gods and goddesses, came down from their own world "Tenkai" to the mortal realm called "Gekai", and form groups of followers called *familias* or "families" to pursue their goals, earn money, so forth. In exchange for their support for the deity they join up with, the mortal gains *falna* or blessings, which allows them to access ever-increasing abilities. They then update the abilities much the same way a character in an RPG updates abilities, and with skills, magic, levels, so on, to boot. The review here is on the first two volumes of the manga adaptation of the Light Novels. The manga does do an admirable job bringing the LN to life in a more visual medium. Of course, not everything is adapted perfectly.Like in the anime, and unlike in the LN where this is handled right off of the bat, the story completely skips over the grading system for the levels. Most Japanese fiction uses grades of S as the highest for ranking the characters' skills, and then A through some level. But someone unfamiliar might not realize this, or that the stats start over again with each level. The good parts are, of course, plentiful, including art, characterization, and such. For instance, the characterization is not necessarily better but different in a good way. We see visual cues we can't see in the novels that give us unique insights into the characters in the same way the greater narrative of the novels gives us greater insights via more detailed pov's of the characters. We get to see how much of a tsundere Hephaestos is towards Hestia, and see just how devastating Freya's powers are. They are not just entrancing but truly powerful that look like they might put Bell in trouble.Hestia and Hephaistos are, like in the books, fleshed out more here than in the anime. Especially the latter. It becomes clear that she does truly love her friend Hestia, and is so hard on her in service of the repayment of aid due to wanting the other goddess to grow up. And as for Hestia, she does love Bell truly, and loves her friend Hephaistos, though she acts childish at times. The situation she puts herself in with her friend is evidence of this.Aiz currently doesn't get a whole lot of development, but she will around the events of the latter end of the second novel onwards, and in her own series, of course. Bell is the main focus of the novel, so of course he gets tons of development focused on a) his childish fantasies, b) where they come from, c) giving them up to pursue Aiz, and d) how he pursues this.As I stated, the art was a real plus for the manga. It is just so detailed and gorgeous. Especially good are the color inserts. Also, of note are - in the first volume only - the little tidbits between chapters that give some factoids about the world and story, including maybe hints of stories to come.Though not as visually impressive as the anime, this manga adaptation has a grace and beauty that is in some ways superior, including the gorgeous art. And, being more faithful to the LN, it gives more details which is a plus. Just as the anime is a compelling adaptation with it's own pros and cons, so is the manga.
